Experts say dis rule dey necessary because many pikin dey enter secondary school too early. Dem dey skip primary five and six, enter Junior Secondary School, and by de time dem finish secondary school, dem suppose be 18, but many dey graduate for 16 or less.
Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, say FG introduce dis rule to ensure say pikin dey ready for tertiary education. "Dis rule no be new policy, say e don dey since," Mamman talk.
But many pipo no agree with dis rule, say e go affect pikin wey don already take UTME exam. Dem say FG suppose find beta solution to address de problem of underage candidates.
ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, say children suppose follow standard academic progression. "Dem suppose spend six years for primary, six years for secondary, den enter university for 18," Osodeke talk.
Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, say FG's policy no make sense. "Dem suppose focus on improving education for Nigeria, not dey introduce rule wey go affect pikin future," Atiku talk.
