Federal High Court Judge Emeka Nwite for Abuja don postpone Yahaya Bello corruption case again. This time, the case go wait till September 25th, 2024.
The reason for the hold-up na because Yahaya Bello lawyers don file appeal for Court of Appeal to decide if the Abuja court get power to try the case at all.
Yahaya Bello lawyer, Abdulwahab Mohammed, argue say the court for wait for the Appeal Court decision before dem continue with the case. E come yarn long grammar say if dem no wait, na bad thing go be that.
But the EFCC lawyer, Kemi Pinhero, no gree with am. E come talk say Yahaya Bello lawyers no show any paper from Appeal Court wey ask the lower court to wait.
The judge, Justice Nwite, come first-first think say e bad for the case to continue with the appeal hanging. But after some back and forth, e change e mind and come talk say Yahaya Bello lawyers just want to delay the case.
The judge come do two other things:
E gree say Yahaya Bello other lawyer, Adeola Adedipe, fit comot from the case.
E send Yahaya Bello first two lawyers, Abdulwahab Mohammed and Adeola Adedipe, matter go the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee to check if dem do any bad thing for how dem handle the case.
The judge come end the thing by saying dem go wait till September 25th to see if Yahaya Bello go come court for arraignment.
