Na big wahala for University of Benin (UNIBEN) as lecturers wey dey for Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) don go on strike for postgraduate programmes.
Prime 9ja Online gather say the lecturers don stop all their work for postgraduate students because dem no gree pay them some money wey reach N109 million.
For one statement wey their chairman, Ray N. Chikogu, and secretary, Success O. Abusomwan, sign, dem talk say this money na part of the school fees wey dem suppose use pay lecturers for teaching and supervising postgraduate students for 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 sessions.
The lecturers yarn say out of the total money, the school only pay dem N50 million.
Dem explain say na their national body (ASUU National Executive Council) approve this strike.
The lecturers chairman yarn say, "After we talk with the school management for almost five years about this money, we don decide to stop working for postgraduate students with the backing of our national body."
E come vex say the school wey fit pay billions of naira wey past administrations owe contractors, no gree pay them their own money.
"Na why we dey stop work until dem pay us all the money wey dem suppose pay us for teaching, supervising and examination for postgraduate students wey dem never pay us."
On top of that, dem want the school and the lecturers' union to agree on how dem go dey pay lecturers for postgraduate work so this kind wahala no go happen again.
The lecturers come praise their members for how dem stand together for this matter and say dem don already achieve some small thing.
