Reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, don defect to All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legacy coalition members wey dey him company. Him defect during APC Edo State's inauguration of National Working Committee of Edo governorship election meeting wey hold on Saturday.
Shaibu, wey declare him intention to defect to APC, be received into di party by National Organising Secretary. Dis development follow accusation by Shaibu on Friday say him principal, Godwin Obaseki, deny him entry into di state.
Shaibu recall when him declare him intention to run for governorship ticket under PDP in November 2023, alleging Obaseki say him go destroy am. Him describe himself as devout Catholic, say na only God fit destroy man. Him vow to continue fight all through di electioneering period until September 21 governorship election for di state.
Di deputy governor also accuse di governor of orchestrating Thursday's attack for Benin City, alleging say Obaseki dey keep true to him earlier promise to destroy am. Him mourn di police inspector wey be killed when him convoy and dat of APC candidate, Monday Okpebholo, be attacked for Benin City by suspected gunmen.

Shaibu say him go work hard to preserve di institution of di office of di deputy governor. Him accuse Obaseki of destroying him office, say him no dey pay am for di past year.
