Appeal Court don settle the matter of who get power for Rivers State House of Assembly. The court throw away two appeals wey some Local Government Chairmen wey dey loyal to Nyesom Wike file. This judgement don give Wike's boys upper hand for the Assembly fight.
Before this judgement, there bin be serious tension for Rivers State as two different groups wey dey claim say na them be the real Assembly members dey hold meeting for different places. One group na Victor Oko-Jumbo group wey dey loyal to Governor Sim Fubara, the other na Martin Amaewhule group wey dey with Nyesom Wike.
Oko-Jumbo group dey hold their meeting for temporary place wey dem arrange inside Government House for Port Harcourt, while Amaewhule group dey meet for official place wey dem suppose dey use for Assembly wey dey Aba Road.
The Amaewhule group don give Governor Fubara seven days to bring the 2024 budget come present again for their House. This na their first meeting since the Appeal Court judgement wey recognise them as the real Assembly members.
Governor Fubara bin first present the budget to the House wey dey loyal to him, wey get Edison Ehie as speaker. Ehie and the other people for that House pass the budget and the governor sign am into law.
Now wey the Appeal Court don give power to Amaewhule group, na another round of budget palava for Rivers State.
