Dem take dis decision after di Supreme Court for Nigeria rule say all di 774 local governments for di kontri go get dia own money independent.
Speaker of di Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, announce for plenary on Tuesday say di bills wey dem wan change na di Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (Amendment No 1) Bill, 2024, and di Osun State Local Government Areas (Creation and Administration) (Harmonised) Bill, 2024.
Egbedun tok say na important thing for di Assembly to amend di laws because di Supreme Court ruling don change how things dey work.
Im say, "I believe say all of us know about di recent big judgement wey di Supreme Court give wey say all local governments for Nigeria go get dia own money independent.
"Dis important judgement don make some of di old laws wey we get no longer dey work.
"Because of dis kain development, I dey urge dis Honourable House say make we start work immediately to change di Osun State Local Government Areas (Creation and Administration) Laws, and di Osun State Independent Electoral Commission Law.
"To make dis important work easy, I dey propose two new bills wey make we consider: (i) Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (Amendment No 1) Bill, 2024, and Osun State Local Government Areas (Creation and Administration) (Harmonised) Bill, 2024.
"Make we work together to make laws wey no only follow wetin di Supreme Court tok, but wey go also help good governance and better management for our local governments.
"I really value una commitment and how una sabi dis kain work, and I get confidence say together, we fit make laws wey go benefit our people and protect democracy."
