Nigeria's electricity generation capacity don drop to 4,249.10 megawatts for di second quarter of 2024 from 4,922.26 MW wey dem record for di same quarter of 2023.
Dis na according to di Q1 2024 report wey Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, release recently.
Di report show say available electricity wey 27 power plants connect to di national grid generate drop by 13.68 per cent or 673.16 MW, short of di figure wey dem record for Q1 2023.
Di report add say di significant decrease for di total amount of energy wey dem generate for February compare to energy wey dem generate for January can largely be attribute to di decrease for energy generation from Egbin ST (Gas) (- 142.19 megawatts hour), Rivers Independent Power Project (-105.60MWh), Olorunsogo, Nigerian National Integrated Power Project, NIPP (-53.32MVWh), and Geregu (-41.49MWh) power plants.
