For Abuja Federal High Court, na wahala for Yahaya Bello lawyers today! The judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, send two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) wey be Abdulwahab Mohammed and Adeola Adedipe go face Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee (LPDC). Why? Because dem no fit bring their client, Yahaya Bello, come court for arraignment.
The judge come hold with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) lawyer, Dr. Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), say these two lawyers wey dey represent Yahaya Bello, fail the promise wey dem make to bring am come court.
Justice Nwite come yarn this thing after EFCC tell court say make dem catch Mohammed and Adedipe for not bringing Yahaya Bello come answer for the N80.2 billion wey e steal from Kogi State.
Our reporter remember say for the last court date wey be 27th June, 2024, Dr. Pinheiro tell court say dem want catch Yahaya Bello lawyers because dem no bring am come court like dem promise.
But Mohammed come block the whole thing by telling court say Yahaya Bello don carry him case go Appeal Court for Abuja to stop the trial. E come still insult Dr. Pinheiro by calling am "rough lawyer" and e come threaten say if the court no gree with am, e go walk out of the court.
Later, Mohammed come take back wetin e talk and come beg Dr. Pinheiro sorry for how e insult am.
Yahaya Bello lawyers try to stop the court from making their decision about catching them, but the court no gree. Justice Nwite come yarn say wetin dem try to do na disrespect to the court order wey dem make on 10th of May, 2024 and say na bad way to behave for court.
The court come judge the matter and come talk say na true say Yahaya Bello lawyers break the promise wey dem make to bring am come court. Because of that, Justice Nwite send Mohammed and Adedipe go face Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) so dem go fit punish them.
The court come still block Adedipe application wey e want use to remove himself from the case because of this wahala.
But Dr. Pinheiro come beg the court say make dem gree say Adedipe no dey part of the wahala again because e don try to remove himself from Yahaya Bello matter and e no do anything bad.
The court come listen to Dr. Pinheiro and allow Adedipe to comot from the case.
The whole case don now shift go September 25th, 2024 for Yahaya Bello to come answer for the money wey e steal.
