Gunmen don kill 18 people for attack wey dem launch on villagers for Mbacher Council Ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
Witnesses tell our correspondent for Makurdi, di state capital, say di incident happen on Friday night after gunmen wey dem believe say dem be local outlaws lay siege to di villagers and kill 18 people, leave some wounded and many odas kidnapped.
Di outlaws wey dey operate for rural environments of Sankera ancestral bloc wey consist of three local government areas - Ukum, Logo and Katsina-Ala - don make di axis unsafe for residents for di past many years. Earlier for June, dis year, dem open fire at Gugu market for Kpav community of Katsina-Ala LGA and kill six people while on July 3, dem kill anoda 11 for Ayati community of Ukum LGA wey spark violent protests wey lead to di burning down of public and private properties.
Chairman of Katsina-Ala LGA, Justine Shaku, tell journalists for Makurdi on Saturday say di incident happen at about 11pm on Friday when him receive distress call from di villagers say some group of terrorists mobilize demselves and dey move house to house forcing people to follow dem.
Shaku say, "I quickly mobilize di military officers wey dey for Tor Donga but being say di area dey remote before dem reach dia di people don dey killed. Some dey wounded. Yesterday night I dey told say na 17 but today 18 bodies don dey confirmed dead. All of dem dey assemble for one place and kill dem.
"Dis morning, myself, di assembly member and adviser on legislative matters hold meeting and we communicate di development to di Commissioner of Police. Him dey come. Since him dey come we ask di villagers to wait let him join us here for Katsina-Ala town before we visit di scene. "Na gorilla war dem dey fight. Dem hit and run away."
