NBC wan review Nigeria Broadcasting Code, fit increase license fees
National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) don announce say dem go meet with stakeholders for the broadcasting industry to review the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. 

This announcement komot as NBC dey consider to increase the license fees for television and radio stations. 

Dem yarn dis one through their Director General, Malam Balareba Shehu Ilelah, during one press conference wey dem hold for Lagos.

During the press conference, the main focus na to announce the upcoming African broadcast exhibition (Africast) wey dem don schedule for October. 

Ilelah come put mouth say e dey important to review the broadcast code after dem don get inputs from industry stakeholders. 

"We go ask make all the stakeholders for the industry give their contribution to review the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. We still dey think to increase the broadcast license for TV and radio stations," na wetin the NBC DG talk.

Ilelah come talk say the NBC, as the body wey dey regulate, dey committed to make sure say the broadcast media dey do wetin the law require am to do. 

But during the press conference, Dr Yemisi Bamgbose, the Executive Secretary of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), come advise say make dem no increase the license fees for now.

Bamgbose talk say the broadcast industry for the country dey suffer and if dem increase the license fees or any other fees, e go affect many stations. "Make I beg the DG and, of course, the NBC say make dem no increase the license fees for now. 

Broadcasters don dey face tough time already, so I no think say now na the best time to increase their license fees or any other fees at all," na wetin the BON Executive Secretary talk.

E important make we know say the current Nigeria Broadcast Code, wey dem first issue for 2016 and dem amend for 2020, dey contain rules and regulations wey dey control the industry and the people wey dey practice am for the country. 

The upcoming review of the code go give chance to address the challenges wey dey show face now and make sure say the broadcasting sector still dey follow the industry standards and practices wey dey change.
